Overview

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children’s wellbeing, learning and development. Depending on the setting, educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously.

Entry Requirements

ACOS requires that all students:

  • Are over the age of 18
  • Complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy, Digital [LLND] assessment to demonstrate that they have the required level of LLND skills required by the course.
  • Demonstrating an interest in, knowledge of, and suitability for work as an early childhood education and care educator
  • Demonstrate the level of maturity required to be responsible in the early childhood education and care sector

 

Further Information – International Students

This course is available to international students who are able to provide evidence that they:

  • Meet the English proficiency requirements with a valid IELTS Academic score of 6.0 with no score below 5.5 in any band, or PTE Academic score of 47 with no score of 39 in each section.
  • Are suitable for entry via an interview (online or in person) as part of the course selection process.
  • It is a condition of entry that upon acceptance, students provide evidence of having an Australian Student Visa [subclass 500].

 

Additional Work Placement Requirements:

  • Have a National Criminal Police Check
  • Updated Vaccination Record
  • Have a reasonable level of fitness to cope with the physical demands of working with young children, including standing, lifting, bending, twisting, and reaching
  • Are physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy to respond appropriately to the needs and wellbeing of children
