Overview

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have a range of well-developed hospitality service, sales or operational skills and sound knowledge of industry operations. Using discretion and judgement, they work with some independence and under supervision using plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities.

This qualification provides provides a pathway to work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops. This qualifications allows for multiskilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, food and beverage and gaming.

Entry Requirements

ACOS requires that all students:

  • Are over the age of 18
  • Complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy, Digital [LLND] assessment to demonstrate that they have the required level of LLND skills required by the course.
  • Demonstrating an interest in, knowledge of and suitability for work in the hospitality industry
  • Demonstrate the level of maturity required to be responsible in the hospitality industry

 

Further Information – International Students

This course is available to international students who are able to provide evidence that they:

  • Meet the English proficiency requirements with a valid IELTS Academic score of 6.0 with no score below 5.5 in any band, or PTE Academic score of 47 with no score of 39 in each section.
  • Are suitable for entry via an interview (online or in person) as part of the course selection process.

 

Additional Work Placement requirements:

  • Possess a Police check (required for work placement)
  • Updated Vaccination Record
  • Have a reasonable level of fitness to complete manual and physically demanding tasks commonly required in hospitality settings, such as standing for long periods, bending, lifting, and carrying items during service or event operations
